ITEM DETAILS

TITLE - "DISTINCTIVE THEMES ELECTRONIC AND ACOUSTIC"
FORMAT - vinyl LP (album)

OTHER DETAILS - a very rare original 1984 UK Music Library LP on the BTW Recorded Music Library label, in front-laminated sleeve.
"Acoustic" is incorrectly spelled "Accoustic" (with two C's) on both the front and rear sleeve, but correctly on the spine and on both labels. The record was pressed in France (says Made In France on the labels) but is certainly a UK release.
Many of these Music Library LPs turn up great results for rare grooves, breaks, samples etc. diggers! Please see my other listings for some similar albums.
Albert Alan Owen is a Welsh composer and musician. Leaving Rhodesia in 1966 (where he had played in R&B band The Plebs) to continue his musical education in London, Owen studied piano with Harold Craxton and Angus Morrison and composition with Patrick Savill. Owen went to Paris to study composition with Nadia Boulanger (whom he continued seeing till her death in 1979) and piano with Jacques Février between 1969 and 1971. Returning to England, he went on to win the Charles Lucas Medal and Lady Holland Prize for composition at the Royal Academy of Music, and was a finalist in the National Piano Concerto Competition in 1974. In the mid-1970s, Owen performed with David Russell and Simon Climie as the leader of the classical fusion group Erato, playing classical, free jazz and electronic improvisation. He also performed with Katherine Sweeney and Adrian Thompson in the Corilla Ensemble, and with Sweeney, Milada Polasek and Peter Barnaby in the Emeryson Ensemble. Owen’s first recording of his own work, Keyboards and Strings, was released in 1979 while teaching at The John Lyon School and North London Collegiate School in London.
Albert Owen professional career has followed a particularly individual path, and he is seen, by those who know his music, as one of the most visionary and talented composers of our time. Many of the trends and styles which are so popular and fashionable today, were foreshadowed by him many years ago. "New Age", "World Music","New Romanticism", and "Electro-Acoustic" are just some of the labels that could have been attached to his music, if they had been in vogue when he was doing all these things in the early 1970s.

CONDITION
COVER - EX condition
- has about 6 very small laminate lines/'crinkles next to the spine and sows the merest hint of 'storage' outer rim record-shaped impression (NOT wear) to the front.
- there is a VERY small bit of wear to the blue colour right at the very top of the spine.
- all very minor indeed and otherwise fine.
- there are two LIGHT (non-feelable) surface marks, quite close to each other, on track 1 of Side 1.
- Side 2 has one VERY light 'hairline' surface mark in the middle of the side (so light that it disappears and reappears as you tilt the vinyl!).
- both the above very minor and otherwise vinyl is nice and clean.
Please note that all vinyl is visually graded under a bright halogen bulb - it is only play-graded if specifically stated above. If there is a noticeable surface mark or light scratch, it may say 'not affecting play' above, in which case the record has obviously been played.

GRADING
NEW: Just that. Note that an item will only be factory sealed/shrinkwrapped if it says so in the description.
NEAR MINT: The record itself is in 'as new' condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are also in 'as new' condition. (please note that I will NEVER use the MINT grade, as I think you are asking for trouble! The highest grade I will use will be NM (Near Mint) as even a new record/CD can have a tiny fault if you look hard enough! If an item is NEW I will say so.)
EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played a number of times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the maybe some occasional light scratches. If there is any surface noise it will be occasional, light and unobtrusive. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD (G): The record has obviously been played a lot and while it still plays through OK, it will have a lot of surface marks and/or light scratches (maybe also the occasional 'feelable' scratch) and most likely there there will be regular and noticeable surface noise. The cover and contents may suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine and/or seam splits, discoloration, etc.
