Alan Richard James Skidmore (born 21 April 1942, London) is a jazz tenor saxophonist and the son of saxophonist Jimmy Skidmore. Skidmore began his professional career at 16 and early in his career toured with comedian Tony Hancock. In the mid to late 1960s he worked with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers and Ronnie Scott's band. In the 1970s, he was part of Keith Tippett's jazz fusion big band Centipede and worked with Soft Machine, The Nice, Graham Collier, Brotherhood of Breath, Mike Gibbs, Elton Dean, Kate Bush, and Curved Air. He has worked with Chick Corea, Alexis Korner, Georgie Fame, and Van Morrison. In 1977 he was in Lala Kova?ev's avant-garde jazz quartet European Jazz Consensus with Gerd Dudek and Adelhard Roidinger. The group released two albums the same year entitled Four for Slavia and Morning Rise.

Item Description/Condition:

This is a first issue album release from 1970 on the Philips Record Labels. Manufactured in the UK on a heavy quality vinyl LP with original sturdy, glossy, fully laminated UK Manufactured picture sleeve. 

Both Record Labels are Excellent Plus condition with just a few signs of play more so on side 1, and both sides of the quality LP are in superb Near Mint condition, a beautiful quality vinyl LP with stunning surfaces to both sides with only a couple of light hairlines. The sound quality and music content of this album is without doubt absolutely stunning with a great play back quality too, without pops, clicks or background noise.

 

The matrix’s are. Side 1, 6308041 1 Y #1 420 1 1 1  and Side 2, 6308041 2 Y #1 420 1 1 2.

The LP is housed in its original glossy laminated Picture Sleeve and is in superb and undamaged Excellent Plus condition with just the mildest of LP indentation and a few age spots (foxing), both edges and spine edge are free from splits with just age toning to the spine edge, the back panel of the sleeve is perfect.
