Year: 1966

Grade: VG+  Based on 'Record Collector' magazine
gradings. A few light surface marks on the vinyl looks
near and plays excellent. Clean labels with no spindle
marks. Small sticker residue on A-side (see photo).

Description: exceedingly rare original UK promo 7" single
in plain sleeve. Great mod dancer especially the B-side.

The Alan Bown Set were an English six-piece formed in May 1965,
playing a mixture of R&B, freakbeat and soul. They recorded four
singles for Pye, none of which charted, although Emergency 999 later
became a Northern Soul anthem. In 1967 they re-emerged as The
Alan Bown!, a psychedelic band signed to Verve Records. They
released three more singles and two albums, the first of which
included a version of Dylan's All Along The Watchtower that
inspired the Jimi Hendrix version. In 1969 the band dropped the
exclamation mark, switched to progressive rock, and released
three more albums on the Deram and Island labels. Former
keyboard player Jeff Bannister has written a fuller biography
and discography on Alex Gitlin's website.

This is only the third copy to be sold on eBay and the
