AL HAIG TRIO - self titled
1954 UK original bebop jazz rarity - nice vinyl, lovely outer, and impressive mono sound quality throughout
Very good (VG+) condition vinyl - completely flat and giving off an impressive jet black sheen, and in normal daylight each side of the vinyl comes across as near perfect. It is only with close inspection under a bright light that a few very wispy hairlines and extremely fine paper scuffs come into view, slightly more in evidence on side 1 than side 2 but all non-obvious, non-feelable and appearing to be purely superficial. Each label is excellent (EX) - barely any spindle trail marks and verging on pristine, with the early UK press deep groove on both labels. Very good plus (VG+) condition non-laminated West Brothers flipback outer sleeve : remaining fully functional and highly presentable with minimal edge scuffing, near perfectly defined right angled corners, firm edges including the opening edges which are devoid of fraying, and all art work, photo and text remaining in remarkably clear and vibrant condition - exceptional for a 72 year old record sleeve! There is a tiny pin hole at each of the top right and bottom left corners and on the reverse side a couple of small and minor handling/storage marks, and just the merest hint of some very minor age discolouration towards the edges. Impressive! Very good plus (VG+) mono audio quality with no skips, jumps, repeats or sticks. There is the occasional very mild click on side 1 (I detected none at all on side 2), accompanied by some very mild background crackle (more prevalent and slightly more intrusive on side 1). Despite these minor blemishes the record is still highly listenable with the following jazz legends in great form : Al Haig (piano), Bill Crow (bass), and Lee Abrahams (drums). Comes with what I believe to be the original polythene inner though I will of course insert into a new plain white paper inner sleeve. A lovely copy of this early 1954 jazz bebop rarity with impressive mono sound quality and lovely original outer sleeve.

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
