This is a beautiful Akai 4000DS tape recorder in stunning near mint condition!
I haven’t seen one like this for some time – it looks as if a tape has never been played on it!
The tape heads are in a clean shiny condition as new and the sound is amazing when played at 7.5 ips speed!
The tape deck is in it’s original box and packing as you will see from the photos.
I have checked out the machine and everything works splendidly as if the unit has just been unpacked from the manufacturers.
This tape recorder comes complete with it's original "Akai" empty metal spool and a full aluminium reel of Uher professional tape.
Phono & din interconnecting leads are supplied including the machines instruction manual.
The machine has 2 speeds: 3.3/4 & 7.1/2 ips.
3 x heads - suitable for 'off tape' monitoring.
4 x track stereo 'sound-on-sound' recording facility.
Stereo headphone output socket & left and right microphone inputs.
This tape recorder can also be used as a 4-track mono machine.

On the 3.3/4 speed with a 3600ft’ tape, the machine will record or play over 3hrs of music without having to be touched. By turning over the tape will give an additional 3hrs of time over 6 hrs in total.
