Description

For the next few weeks I will be listing a recently aquired collection. The first wave will be classical, many of which are still sealed. The previous owner was a record producer and worked for Polygram so most of these will be Deutsche Grammophon, Mercury and Philips releases but there will some other labels mixed in. There are a good amount of opened titles and while I haven't checked all of these for condition the ones that I have are absolutely flawless. It's possible he may have received some of these prior to them being sealed or it's likely he just played them once for reviewing purposes - but please read my grading on each listing. All opened LP's are graded under a 100 watt halogen spotlight and cleaned with a Nitty Gritty machine prior to shipping. There will be multiple hundred of titles listed. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Shipping discounts for multiple purchases. Read my feedbacks and buy with complete confidence.

ULTRA RARE FULL LENGTH ACETATE WITH AN ALTERNATE SONG TITLE!

Artist: Uriah Heap

Title: Firefly

Year: 1976

Label & Number: Masterdisk

Original/Reissue: O

Mono/Stereo: S

Country: USA

Vinyl Condition: EX, very nice. A few minor spindle marks and light sleeve rubs. Nothing remotely feelable. I have gently cleaned the surface of the disc with distilled water but will not be running it through the Nitty Gritty as I'm not sure what effect the cleaning solution would have.

Cover Condition: Blank 12" white cardboard cover. Standard white inner sleeve with hand written notes.

Comments: Here's a very, very interesting item! This is a 12" full length acetate of Uriah Heep's "Firefly" LP! Acetate was manufactured at Masterdisk Corporation 110 West 57th Street, NYC, NY 10019. There is some alternate material on this disc which likely makes it unique! And what's more the 12" inner sleeve has hand written notes on it explaining the record deal for the album! The previous owner worked as a producer for Polygram and had his hand in securing record deals as well - so this is legit. I'll photo both labels and the sleeve but here's some info: The track "Wise Man" is titled as "Life" on this acetate. I listened to just a bit of it and it seems to be the same version, just retitled. All tracks are in different order than on the retail LP. Some tracks are a bit different in length and the track "Been Away Too Long" is a full 54 seconds longer on the acetate than on the retail LP so it is certainly a different version. I'm not familiar enough with this album to recognize any differences in mixes and I'm apprehensive to play the acetate much as they do degrade with repeated plays. So there could be alternate takes and other differences that I'm just not aware of. Here's the track list with track times followed by track times on the standard LP: Life (appears as Wise Man on the LP) 4:40/4:40, Who Needs Me 3:35/3:39, Sympathy 4:59/4:44, Been Away Too Long 5:57/5:03, The Hanging Tree 3:40/3:40, Rollin' On 6:21/6:21, Do You Know? 3:14/3:12 & Firefly - no time listed on acetate/6:21.

The notes on the sleeve describe "The Deal" as $200,000/LP, 14% Tape + LP, Needs WB To Term, Singles?, Art: They Do: $1500, Promotion & Ad Money?, A 3 LP Deal With Performance Clause, USA & Canada and other misc. notes and an address for Quail Ridge in Del Ray, FL. Looks like the previous owner decided to use the inner sleeve to note the specifics of the recording contact for the LP.

This is a unique item, an impressive additional to any serious collection of rare rock memorabilia. I'm willing to answer any questions you may have and will provide any additional information neccessary, providing I have it. This will be listed without any reserve. Good luck and happy bidding!

A NOTE ABOUT SHIPPING... please read...

Ebay has recently enacted new terms which are designed to encourage sellers to offer free domestic shipping on their listings. I'm sure they have their reasons for doing this. Since nothing is truly "free", especially the cost of shipping, ebay is recommending it's sellers roll the shipping cost into the price of the product. I've never been a huge fan of this tactic so I won't be doing it. I also have a solid amount of overseas customers who would not be receiving this "free" shipping and therefor would be getting the short end of it if I raised my prices to compensate for the possibility that a domestic client might buy the item. Why do I mention this? As more sellers conform to ebay's urgings those of us that do not will start to look like we are overcharging for shipping. Even a modest shipping charge, when compared to "free", will seem exorbitant. This will likely start to affect our Detailed Seller Ratings for shipping and handling charges. Low DSR scores can have a serious impact on sellers. Ebay offers discounts for the best DSR ratings and a few low scores can litterally cost a considerable sum of money in discounts lost. So if you are buying from me please consider, I do not make money on my shipping costs, there is no handling fee. I try and keep the shipping fees as close to the cost of actual postage plus the cost of packing materials - LP mailers cost nearly $1 apiece - and often end up losing a few cents in the transaction. My reputation, feedbacks and DSR scores are very important to me and my business.

Thank you, I appreciate your time.

WHY BUY FROM IN THE MOMENT RECORDS?

In The Moment Records is a veteran record seller. All LP's are strictly graded using an intense halogen floodlight. All LP's are gently hand cleaned prior to grading and cleaned using a Nitty Gritty cleaning machine prior to shipping. LP's are shipped outside of their jackets to avoid seam splits during transit. LP's are carefully packed using additional cardboard for added stiffness and then shipped in brand new LP mailers. As an avid collector myself I know the disappointment of receiving poorly graded or packed LP's. It is my utmost priority to insure you are happy with your purchase and to encourage repeat business.

DOMESTIC SHIPPING:

Due to a number of items being lost in the mail I will now be using delivery confirmation on domestic shipments. The price of this will be included in the handling cost (which also includes the cost of the mailer). The increase in cost to you should be small and I do apologize for the inconvenience.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING RATES FOR 1 LP:

USPS 1st Class International rates will be included on each listing and both USPS Global Priority and 1st Class International rates will be posted on your invoice.

How we visually grade our records:

Mint (M): Album is still sealed in original shrinkwrap and has never been opened.

Near Mint (NM): Album has been opened and most likely played but is blemish free and as close to new as possible.

Excellent Plus (EX+) Album is very close to NM but may show more signs that it has been played. A very minor, unfeelable mark or two that has no affect on play may be noticed.

Excellent (EX): Album does show the most minor signs of usage, nothing that would effect sound quality.

Very Good Plus (VG+): Album will show some signs of wear and may have some minor scratches or scuffs. These albums we will usually play to gauge the sound quality. If there are any issues we will post them.

Very Good (VG): Album has obvious signs of usage. There are most likely blemishes that will affect sound quality.

How we grade our covers :

Mint (M): Cover is perfect in every way - likely still sealed or in the shrink.

Near Mint (NM): Cover is in fantastic condition and may still be in it’s shrinkwrap. Very, very minor signs of wear may be apparent.

Excellent (EX): Cover is in great shape but will show the most minor signs of usage. Small amounts of wear on the corners or seams are possible, but no writing or other blemishes.

Very Good Plus (VG+): Cover will shows signs that it was used. No seam splits or heavy wear, but corners and seams will show wear. There may be the possibility of a previous owners name written on the cover, stickers or bent corners, etc. Cover graphics may have flecking or show a ring from the record.

Very Good (VG): Cover will show wear on seams and corners. Seam splits are possible. Cover graphics will be worn. Covers with heavy writing on them will earn this ranking.

Good (G): Cover is in not in great shape but will still be functional. Generally we will not list albums with covers in this shape unless the album itself is in excellent shape and the cover is the only concern or if the album is extremely rare or valuable and there may still be interest in spite of condition.

Album and cover grading is not an exact science and is subject to the opinion of the grader. We strive to be as precise as possible. If you have any questions about our grading system or a particular item please don't hesitate to contact us.
