MUSIC VIEWS FROM HOLLYWOOD # 107
Music Views from Hollywood was a 1/2 hour, commercial free, radio show produced for the U.S. Armed forces by Capitol Records. A different Capitol artist would M.C. the show each week & present other Capitol artists as if were live in the studio including applause etc. There is no date on this disc but as the shows went from 1954 to 1956 I assume this is 1956.
The MC for this show is Les Baxter who intros the numbers throughout the show. In every show they read a request or so from a military serviceman. In this show Les Baxter says. "I dont know if you know this boy or not but he has been creating quite a commotion in the United states. Airman 3rd class Ollie Johnson member of our Air police squadron happened to know Gene in his hometown of Norfolk Virginia. Johnson of course got quite a kick hearing about his tremendous success with his own brand of rock & roll. Genes gonna do a # for us right now..." Gene sings Blue Gene Baby afterwards Les says "A pretty Jumpin' Lad eh! Then he introduces the Blue Caps and that Gene is featured in the movie THE GIRL CANT HELP IT starring Jayne Mansfield. He "brings him back" later for 2 more songs and then afterwards "an encore".
