Up for auction is a RARE ACETATE of Frank Sinatra's "Sings The Select Cole Porter" on Capitol Records #DT-2-2301 Duophonic Stereo 1/26/65.  Also called listening proofs, a very few of these (3-4) were made directly from the master tape for the producer and marketing Department in the Capitol Tower in L.A.  With these discs the track listing, and EQ settings could be checked before the final masters were cut and sent to the plants to be manufactured on vinyl.  Also a copy would be sent to the person writing the liner notes to let them hear the final album so they could comment about it in the notes.  These are metal blanks covered in laquer that are cut on a lathe in real time from the tapes.  Some of the original paper sleeves have EQ settings written on them for the cutting engineer to adjust to when making the final master.  These particular acetates are housed in the actual album covers.  These are very hard to find and as I mentioned before as close as you can get to the master tapes sonically, they are in excellent condition.....and they smell good too!!  Disc & Labels VG++ visually.  Mono Cover VG++.  Lots of writing on the sleeve.  You are bidding on a 12"  33 /13 rpm acetate record album.  See scan.  These are heavier than vinyl discs.  NO RESERVE!!!
