Description
This is an acetate pressing by Screen Gems Columbia Music for Dusty Springfield. Condition is Fair - it appears as if has marks but plays very well. This is a vocal with a rhythm section but I am sure I have heard a final version with brass and winds. It is heard in the film "Casino Royale" from 1967. The backside, as in most acetates of the period, is blank. Acetate pressings were usually done for the producer, the artists, and the engineer in order to listen to the final product before the single or album (LP) were mass produced for the public. Acetate recordings have a familiar odor that will persist for generations due to the chemical processes used to manufacture them and the mustard color sleeves used to preserve them. Once they were listened to a specific number of times, they were usually discarded or recycled due to the aluminum plate then being re-used. This is a piece of music history as for the most part, only a select few were selected to listen to the pre-mastering acetate: the artists, producers, etc, and they are very rare!
A copy of the lead sheet to the song is included - this was a practice from years gone by! (The blank side of the acetate also bears markings of the same lead sheet - a great and historical part of this item! )
