Description
Candi Staton - "Chance"
Columbia Recording Studios 1-sided ACETATE featuring a mix labeled as clocking at 6:03, while the released album and 12" promo mixes of this song both run 5:34.
We played this once to confirm the timing and not only does it clock a full 6 minutes, it features an extended "disco breakdown" starting at around 3:50 stripping down to the drums and rhythm guitar and slowly building back up to the chorus. While we have no info on who was responsible for this mix, it seems this was potentially designed for a bigger commercial 12" release that was scrapped.

This was acquired from a collection of an original NYC disco DJ who received many rare promos and is 100% authentic of the era.
If you are unfamiliar with Acetates, these were one-off discs made for in-house reference and occasional early promotional use. These are NOT vinyl records and are made for limited use, with degrading sound quality after each use. As such, expectations regarding condition should NOT be compared to a normal vinyl record!
VINYL: VG++
Visually this looks fantastic with super light scuffs, no feelable scratches and no chipping or flaking. We did play this once at a lighter-than-usual needle weight as to prevent any extra wear. There was some faint static, typical of acetates but NO other issues.
