Description
This is a home recorded 8 inch diameter aluminum base acetate that is recorded at 78 rpm.
Side 1 is a performance from the NBC Chamber Music Society of Lower Basin Street program of 15 September 1941 and is a 2 piano duet titled "Hot Pedal Boogie". The actual music performance is complete and is 1 minute and 45 seconds in duration and it is followed by 50 seconds of announcer talk not related to the boogie duet.
While I have been unable to find this performance documented anywhere, my well trained ears tell me that the duet is by Albert Ammons and Pete Johnson. Hot Pedal Boogie is very similar in melody and tempo to "Foot Pedal Boogie" which Ammons and Johnson recorded for RCA Victor 3 months earlier (June 1941).
The sound quality is good overall, certainly very listenable. The disc plays with typical acetate surface noise. There is a bit of over-recorded distortion in the very beginning but it disappears quickly. Also, there is a slight thump in the early part of the disc but it is not disruptive or very audible.
The flip side is by a studio band from a different radio show 2 days earlier and is rather lackluster. Thumping is more pronounced on this side.
Disc is in VG condition but plays VG+.
Packing and Shipping in USA is $4.00 for Media Mail service. Fragile 78 rpm records are packed sandwiched between cardboard fillers and shipped in a sturdy 12"x12"x6" cardboard box with additional filler material.
