Description
AC/DC Highway to Hell (Atlantic K 50628) U.K. test pressing from the Roundhouse Studios, London (June/July 1979). To date there has been no verified sale of a test press with these cat. numbers.
I am selling this record on behalf of a friend who has had it in his possession for many years. The same record has featured in Record Collector magazine (issue #364) back in 2009 in an article listing the top 70 AC/DC collectibles of all time, this particular item listed at number 8 and with reference to its value, said to "change hands for $2,500". Perhaps only a handful of copies to have ever been produced and has not been sold since 2009. The same sleeve has been displayed by a collector in both an AC/DC exhibition at Kelvingrove Museum and a smaller exhibition at Kirriemuir (where Bon Scott spend his early years).
Condition:
Sleeve is in good condition but shows signs of wear to the corners and some ring wear to both sides. It would appear the sleeve was originally produced in a single sheet, fold-out gatefold format and sellotaped soon after on either side, to ensure vinyl is housed correctly, as this was not its original purpose. It has NOT been applied to repair any damage to the sides. The album title is printed in gothic style lettering across the top of the artwork and in regular font along the spine. The cat no. (K 50628) is visible along the spine and the bottom right hand side of the front sleeve. The sleeve artwork was not used in general release, however it was used in a later bootleg release with additional photographs.
The vinyl is in EX- condition with a very light scratch on side A. The light cream label has a few light spindle marks and “Highway to Hell” has been handwritten in capitals on side A.
