Description
THE LION ("The Roaring Lion") and THE ATTILA ("Attila the Hun") were great colleagues and friendly rivals for supremacy in the Trinidadian Calypso world. How appropriate that they should battle on opposite sides of this 1938 Decca record:
"The Lion" sings "ABDICATION," a very topical tune, editorializing on the recent (December, 1936) abdication of England's King Edward VIII. (Love the first line: "It was shocking to me and the whole world too / What a little American girl can do!"
"The Attila" sings "NETTY-NETTY," a scandalous song of Christmas Eve debauchery, involving booze, a wild broad, and his rumpled bed! Most of this side is in impenetrable patois, to spare the delicate sensibilities of us uptight Americans!
This original 1938 Calypso series Decca 17297 is in E- condition. A trifle wear and scuffs.

I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will! Shipping is done with expert care.
