This is an extremely rare ABBA single, appearing on a multi-colored pressing produced in small numbers by East Germany's AMIGA Records and never released for sale.
AMIGA had an official license to release ABBA's material behind the Iron Curtain. Some resourceful employees took the opportunity to place ABBA's "I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do" onto a disc colored in psych vinyl, to be exclusively gifted to employees inside the record company on birthdays. These were never released commercially but appear to have been sanctioned by upper management as the labels feature the words "Die besten Wünsche zum Geburtstag — VEB Deutsche Schallplatten — BGL BGO Betriebsleiter." [translation: Best Wishes on Your Birthday - The People's-owned-German Record Company - Company Management].
One side features a "Schlager" type recording— in this case "Kommt gratulieren" ("Come gratulate") by the Frank Schöbel Orchestra—and there were a handful of different East German songs that featured on the reverse side. The labels are identical on both sides and list neither song titles nor designate an A- or B-side. Thus a number of different combinations paired ABBA's single with one of the East German songs, making this pressing one of an extremely limited number of 45s produced.
The sleeve is labeled "Schlager 1968"—also VEB Deutsche Schallplatten issue—but may not be the original sleeve the single was gifted in.
