SEA FANTASY - MUSIC OF THE SEA (LA MUSICA DEL MARE) ITALIAN LIBRARY Lp by ARMANDO SCIASCIA. Original Italian 1st pressing on VEDETTE label (VSM 38553), from 1972. Spellbinding and unusual example of Italian Library electronica in a sub-aquatic lounge setting. A mini masterpiece of strange / exotic and obsessive moods by the cult composer and electronics pioneer. Sciascia aka H. Tical was responsible for some of the best avant-garde mood music from Italy. This is the underwater themed alter-ego to his Distortions or After The End Library... part futuristic and experimental, part arcane Atlantean with stoned and beautiful compositions. Basically, Sciascia's vision of a fantasy world below the waves. Every theme is psychedelic with a supernatural / mechanical or dream-like ambience. Fabulous use of primitive electronics and synthesizers with early dub techniques / echo delays / repetitive rhythms and studio FX (crashing waves etc). Maverick sounds that will definitely appeal to the Andy Votel / Sean Canty / Demdike Stare lover. Our soundclip opens with the Blue Phantom cum art installation-esque SURGING SURF (RISACCA) followed by the sinister ambient drone of OCEAN POLLUTION (MARE INQUINATO) / the beats of BLACK SAND (SABBIA NERA) / UNDERWATER FANTASY (SUBAQUEO) then all the other important themes. The track MOON ON THE SEA (LUNA SUL MARE) has flanged keyboards a la Mulatu Of Ethiopia / cool hip hop tempo riddim to SHIPWRECK (NAUFRAGIO) and other hallucinogenic loops and samples on this recording, in general. Vintage electronic music mixed into orchestral lounge with LSD tinged Mediterranean folk and rock elements. Lots of fuzz distorted keyboards / harp / balearic guitars / fender bass / woodwind / flute / strings 'n' things. Great for leftfield DJs. Easily one the best examples of the underwater Library genre. There is an inspired repress recently issued on Pheon Records label but our copy is the original 1st pressing ;) Striking artwork sleeve with bizarre jellyfish imagery. Seldom comes up for sale now. Vinyl is in shiny, VG+ condition with some hairlines / scuffs and a few light scratches. Some faded old marks and residue from the original pressing process. Surface noises. Some soft pops / ticks (as you can hear on our soundclip). The soft card sleeve is in strong VG condition overall with general wear and creasing from storage. Ring wear / ring creasing / ring dirt marks. Corner and edge wear. Sonimage distributor sticker to front sleeve. Some dirt marks / blemishes / nicks and deterioration. Sleeve also has some bending from storage. Camera flash glare to sleeve and label photo. Very rare Library Lp!!!
