The 1980s was a decade of extreme excess. The music, the fashion, the partying, the attitude. If you experienced the 80s like I did, you'll remember that there hasn't been a decade like the 80s, SINCE the 80s! Lol In today's listing, we celebrate two important pieces of 80s culture.
First up is the "Theme From Miami Vice", by Czech/American composer Jan Hammer. It's an instrumental track, but you'll know it by heart if you've ever watched the original 'Miami Vice' TV show. A picture disc of that theme song was issued on a 12" single, with Glenn Frey (of The Eagles), and his hit song "You Belong to the City", on the B side. Crockett and Tubbs is on the A side, and a pic of Glenn Frey, along with song titles and credits, is on the B side. Vinyl looks pretty good, with only a few light surface marks that I can see. An air bubble under the clear coat is also visible. I cannot vouch for the sound, as I never play specialty vinyl, such as pic discs and colored records. Comes in its original clear PVC jacket, with (a bit faded) pink hype sticker.
The second half of this 80s double shot is the 'E.T.' soundtrack! Music by composer John Williams. The 12" vinyl LP has tracks taken from the landmark 80s movie 'E.T. The Extra Terrestrial', directed by Steven Spielberg. This has an awesome shot of E.T. on the A side, and the iconic shot of E.T. and Elliot, riding off into the moonlight, on a bicycle! (See pic for tracklisting of this pic disc.) Vinyl has some surface marks on it, and was probably on display at some point. This will come in a clear PVC sleeve, with no tracklisting available (which is why I took a pic of the tracks).
A nice pair of 80s collectibles, for fans of 'Miami Vice', Glenn Frey and the Eagles, fans of E.T. and other Steven Spielberg movies, or collectors of vintagevpicture discs. Or snatch this pair up for your very own. Because you KNOW that collection of yours can always use some new blood!
