This long-time collector has decided to part with some of her childhood keepsakes. All of these classic oldies records were mine when I was a kid.  They were played at the time they were popular but have been stored vertically in record storage cases for decades.  These records were all purchased new when these hit songs were at the height of their popularity. I’m hoping they have some value to a collector.  In separate auctions, I’m selling my 1961 record player / phonograph and all my other vintage records and albums, mostly from the 1960s, featuring The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Herman’s Hermits, The Beach Boys, and many, many more.  These records have been stored in a smoke-free and pet-free home.

The picture sleeve has some edge wear.  On the left side in the middle, there is a ¾” seam split. My name is written on one side. From being stored in a record carrying case, there is some wear / rubs on both sides to the words and pictures. On one side, there is a brown discoloration on Ringo’s neck.  Paul McCartney is holding a cigarette!  My name is written on the sleeve. On the 45 record, my name is written twice on the label of the I Want To Hold Your Hand side.  I obviously wanted everyone to know this was my record!!

The picture sleeve has no tears but the seams where the front is glued to the back have become unglued at the top of each seam.  This record originally cost 77 cents!  By the price tag, on the front picture cover there are holes from a staple.  The staple is still attached to the back cover. My guess is the store put a staple there so the record could not be removed from the sleeve and stolen.  Because of the white background on the covers, you can see the outline of the record and there is a small black smudge by Ringo on one side.  On the 45 record, my name is written on the label of the I’ll Get You side.

One of the seams is split and there is a tear.  In the 1960s, Scotch Tape was used to repair it, which has yellowed.  On the 45 record, my name is written on the label of the I Should Have Known Better side.

The picture sleeve has no tears or split seams.  I must have received this as a Christmas present, because there is a Santa sticker over the price tag on the back cover.  On the 45 record, my name is written on the label of the She’s A Woman side.

The sleeve has no tears or split seams.  The original price tag for 69 cents is on one side.  Slight edge and corner wear. On the 45 record, I wrote the number 37 on the label of the Hey Jude side (my inventory system in the 1960s). 

LEE ALAN PRESENTS A TRIP TO MIAMI – PART 1 AND PART 2

On the record label is the following information:

A FREE ITEM FOR PRIVATE USE ONLY

I did not remember having this, so I don’t know if I listened to it or not.  It also comes with the printed narration written by Lee Alan, a Detroit disc jockey.  This record and story must have been a limited edition giveaway to his listeners in Detroit.  The printed story is about his trip to Miami with Del Shannon to meet Brian Epstein and to interview the Beatles.  The paper is wrinkled from being crushed between two records for over 40 years. Based on the pamphlet, I think the 45 record is his interview with the Beatles in Miami in 1964, but I don’t know if it’s only the interview or if there is also music. My name is written on the label of Part 1.  It would be fun to listen to since it was shortly after their appearance on the Ed Sullivan show.

The records do have some scratches on them. I do not have a record player, so I have no way to play these records to test them. Since these records have not been touched in over 40 years, I personally consider them to be in very good to excellent condition for their age, but I have absolutely no knowledge of how records are graded, so please ask all questions of importance to you before you bid.  These records were played when first released and have been in storage ever since.  They were stored vertically in their sleeves in a record carrying case.  From storage, all of the sleeves have slight wrinkles, and the records have fingerprints on them.  I’ve described them to the best of my ability, so please ask all questions of importance to you before you bid.
