Description
This record grades about VG+ condition . This is a super rare copy, not listed in Docks and not listed in Jazz Records. Sam Manning was a calypso pioneer artist in the mid 1920s..Jazz records only shows 3 releases, 2 on Columbia(1925) and one on OKEH in the race series ,# 8302 (1926).. This Okeh issue is in a rare West Indies series, and pre dates the Okeh 8302, based on much earlier matrices. He is accompanied by the Cole Jazz Trio.
This short lived 65000 series is extremely rare, and this is the only example I have ever seen.I grabbed it from Sam's Victrola when I was running out the backdoor of his girlfriend's bungalow while serving in the Royal Navy in 1925 in the West Indies with Sam in hot pursuit....Well.. I can't really remember where I got it, but that story sounded pretty good.
These are my grades ,E-,VG++,VG+,VG,VG-,G+......Highest to lowest for 78s.I only use E or E+ when the record looks new and unplayed or perfect.E- or indeed many VG++s are very close to perfect and will be more than satisfactory to discerning collectors.
All 78s will be packed between 4 cardboard squares and boxed professionally with insulation to guarantee safe delivery.
