Description

Welcome to Shellac Shack select recordings, featuring high quality blues, country, rockabilly, R&B, boogie-woogie, old time and jazz 78 rpm records, from the 20’s to the 50’s.
This is a 17 disc collection of amazing 1923 - 1929 pirated recordings of Jelly Roll Morton with 3 different groups, as a solo pianist, and (2 sides) accompanying blues singer Lizzie Miles. Biltmore Records of New York produced these unauthorized records between 1949-51, before a lawsuit put Biltmore out of business.
Most of the titles were pressed from masters originally recorded on Gennett, Okeh or Victor labels. A few of the selections are truly rare, and we could find no prior release documented.
Records were received in an original 78 stock box, all in original brown paper sleeves. Many appeared to be unplayed or minimally played, the majority are in E+ condition. A few have minor scuffs, none of which affects playability.
