Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback.   We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. One of the great powerhouse psych albums of the early 70's (1971) ... the crazed guitar trio from England had already one smoker Lp under their belt when they went a step further ... if the lead off track doesn't get your blood pumping, ya gotta be dead...and it's harsh reality from there....

The second and final May Blitz album basically picked up where its predecessor left off, with the thunderous and bloody first pounding "For Mad Men Only," and then bludgeoned on from there. Except, where May Blitz concentrated on weight, 2nd of May is more interested in mood and even fist of fury -- "25th of December 1969" would be almost jovial, if the lyrics weren't so harsh, while the balladic "Just Thinking" closes the album with the sweetest of whispers. It's a tighter disc than its first platter. Just two of the eight songs really top five minutes, as the band learned how to cram maximum impact into minimal space, and layered the virtuosity on from there. The massive overdriving helter-skelter blur of "Eight Mad Grim Nits" is as electrifying a guitar workout as you're likely to hear, with the powerhouse leads panning wildly while the rhythm section soars like a steeplechase behind it; while "High Beech" takes the opposite tack entirely, a psychedelic dream that builds so gently that the effect is almost boleric. "Honey Coloured Time," too, has a gentle mood that puts one in mind of labelmates Black Sabbath's "Planet Caravan," as performed by the Full House era Fairport Convention. 2nd of May remains one of those albums that you will find yourself returning to again and again, while wishing May Blitz had held on long enough to cut more Lps.

The two Canadian guys ( guitarist/vocals James Black, & bassist Reid Hudson) would return to British Columbia (apparently to disappear from the music scene), and powerful drummer Tony Newman would find himself with other acts like Three Man Army.

May Blitz followed the power trio format of the likes of Cream and the Jimi Hendrix Experience, but unlike them, May Blitz was never all that successful, making it easier to enjoy their music without the fear of any song being overplayed on the radio.

CONDITION: The cover: The fragile UK gatefold cover is right near "EX" (excellent) and pretty nice still after 40+ years ... not with the normal dirt and soil that spare copies often have ... light handling is visible and still very presentable as a collection possession. No alarming problems, colors are still there, no writing, no deleet marks, no split seams ...  

The vinyl: here's the sad part, this is a servicable play copy, a starter copy, for there are many small scuffs and light scratches on both sides rendering the VG grade ...here because it's so sought after and hard to find ... play grade revealed light surface in quiet moments - luckily the band is heavy, so much of the audio is fine...there is no dreaded groove wear which is one plus ... both Vertigo swirl labels are clean ...
