The records in my listings are some of the first flat record disc ever produced,, 1901 and earlier. These are generally in the area of 120 years old so please don't bid if you expect high fidelity sound.This record is for the advanced vintage record collector..
PLEASE, VIEW THE PICTURES PROVIDED?
As you can see both the Label and Record show extremely well. I don't know if the label is special but background appears to be an off color pigment and not the usual dark black. Apparently there was an early run of records that used an off colored background . Judge for yourself.

This is a announced, single sided record that has good volume and plays through smoothly without any issues on my wood horn Victor D phonograph using a fiber needle in a #2 reproducer? There is some very light background noise during play but not very noticeable to my ear. No cracks or needle digs on play surface. I'm not a record collector but I would give it an overall rating of 8.5 out of 10 due to the sound quality which is well above average. Grooves are in extremely nice condition as I tried to show in the photo's..
From what I have seen on the internet,, it appears this US label was only produced a short time in 1900/1901 by Eldridge R. Johnson who's parent company was the Consolidated Talking Machine Company of Philadelphia and preceded the Victor Talking Machine Co. Supposedly Eldridge Johnson came up with a superior way in which to reproduce multiple copies of quality records from a single master.
Initially Eldridge Johnson's records carried the label Improved Gram-O-Phone Record the first records ever to carry a paper label but within a few months, through a court injunction, he was prohibited from using the term Gram-O-Phone on the labels of any of his records. For a couple months, just the IMPROVED RECORD label remained followed by this, the very first production of the PRE-DOG VICTOR RECORD label. **(the Victor Talking Machine Company had yet to be formed). Once he moved his operation to New Jersey, Eldridge Johnson's Consolidated Talking Machine Company reorganized and became the Victor Talking Machine Co.. from what I understand.
This recording is TAKE #4 which is etched into the left side in the run out area but difficult to see in the pic's.
According to the research site Discography of American Historical Recording's (DAHR), the listed date for this record is 10/29/1900. See the last attached picture for this documentation..
