PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us. Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over +22,000 positive feedback. We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! - The second Neil Young album released in 1969, unites with ex-ROCKETS band members giving this band and edgy assault.
- The killer crunch of Neil's distorted guitar on the much loved classic "Cinnamon Girl" kick starts his first record with the great Crazy Horse. The guitar epics "Down By The River" and "Cowgirl in the Sand" have stood the test of time and are a reminder of the uniqueness and originality of this band of musicians, most notably the late Danny Whitten and the enduring Mr Young who had since developed into one of rock music's superstars.
Right away, Young announces his ambitions with the classic "Cinnamon Girl" boasting something of an unorthodox guitar sound. Righteously distorted and grungy, Young's newfound guitar texture immensely proving influential, especially by the late '80s-early '90s alternative rock scene. The title track, the catchiest song here, displays Neil's rural/folk-rock roots to great effect. Next, the positively hypnotic "Round & Round (It Won't Be Long)" demonstrates some of Young's more melodic tendencies.
But "Everybody Knows This is Where" Neil discovered the inimitable talents of his greatest backing band and one of the best in rock: CRAZY HORSE. Danny Whitten, Billy Talbot and Ralph Molina lend their stripped down, garage rock philosophy to each and every track, adding a real edge to the album's overall impact. - The nearly ten-minute "Down by the River" and the over ten-minute "Cowgirl in the Sand" both attest to the bands visceral playing and how seamlessly they blend into Young's coherent vision.
- "The Losing End (When You're On)" and "Running Dry (Requiem for the Rockets)" - which, in itself, was an elegy for CRAZY HORSE'S former status as an up and coming band known as the Rockets - function as the two quiet though musically disquieting respites from the storm of the aforementioned jams that bookend these two pieces
- Neil Young, it seems, was second only to Bob Dylan in terms of lyrical imagination and his talents shimmer on this record. Simple and direct, Young's lyrics hit hard but endearingly so since their delivered with a distinctly honest and sincere timbre, another one of those voices that wasn't conventionally "good" or "polished" to qualify as a pop music kind of voice, much like Dylan's. No matter because Young and company definitely summarized their signature sound on this record, a sound that, no matter what kind of experimentation Young undertook for the rest of his career, would be returned to countless times in the future.
