PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us. Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over +21,000 positive feedback. We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. DON and the GOODTIMES formed in Portland, Oregon, in 1964. Fronted by Don Gallucci, former keyboardist of the Kingsmen, the group made a name for itself in the Northwest rock scene performing in a similar style as their contemporaries the Wailers and the Sonics. Over time, Don and the Goodtimes developed vocal harmonies and earned two hits on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1967 and later reconstructed itself as the psychedelic rock group Touch, before disbanding in 1969.
Not only does this Don and the Goodtimes LP boast a library of great music, but their family tree is quite interesting.
To begin with, the band, which formed in 1964 in Portland, Oregon, featured Don Gallucci from the Kingsmen. Charlie Coe and Pete Ouellette, who both played in an early incarnation of Paul Revere and the Raiders, were also members of the band. In 1966, Jim Valley departed Don and the Goodtimes to join Paul Revere and the Raiders, with Charlie Coe soon following suit to hook up once again with the colonial-costumed teen idols.
Needless to say, a strong Paul Revere and the Raiders connection runs through the band!
Extensive touring, countless television appearances and generous spreads in the fan magazines gave Don and the Goodtimes loads of exposure. Primed to set the world alight with their handsome faces and terrific tunes, the band migrated to Los Angeles. Although a number of their discs were heavily aired in certain quarters of the country, they never managed to glean a national top 40 hit single. It seemed as if the band was always mere inches away from attaining super stardom.
This rare 1968 Lp, is clearly the best platter Don and the Goodtimes released - it's also (by far) their hardest to find. we haven't had a spare copy to offer in years... this copy in mint condition is the *best* copy we've had (ever) and presents the finest hours of the band. In their infancy, they specialized in stomping frat rockers, smoking saxophone fills and rousing choruses, the LP demonstrate how tight and energetic Don and the Goodtimes were.
Blistering rhythms, compounded by menacing smirks and driving guitar licks lend “I’m Real” and “Little Sally Tease,” which was rendered by the Standells in an equally exciting manner, a flat-out garage rock feel. Elsewhere are moody haunting melodies, showing Don and the Goodtimes moving in a more sophisticated and pop oriented direction.
Psychedelic impressions blanket the moody and meditative “Colors Of Life” and “You Were Just A Child” teeters and reels to a rush of dizzy tempos and busy keyboard work.
Flush with hopelessly catchy songs, advanced by solid instrumentation and strong vocals, Don and the Goodtimes asserts what an exceptional band they were. Those with an affinity for groups that made the '60s scene like the Knickerbockers, the McCoys, the Turtles, and yes, Paul Revere and the Raiders...
This rare gem unfolds the spirited sounds of Don and the Goodtimes :::::
