Description
I've recently been thinning down my collection, getting rid of some tunes I've already got elsewhere. We're onto 'B', and a name that's no stranger to the Northern scene.

The lovely Maxine Brown began her recording career on the Nomar label, before moving to ABC-Paramount in 1961. In 1963 she was off again, this time to Wand - and the most successful part of her career. As far as Northern Soul is concerned, her best Wand work came in 1966, and this is one of her greatest released performances.
The song itself was penned by one of the cream of New York's songwriters, Rudy Clark. He had already written such well-known tunes as "If You Gotta Make A Fool Of Somebody", "The Shoop Shoop Song (It's In His Kiss)", and "Got My Mind Set On You" (the latter song was written for James Ray, but is now much more famous via a cover version, cut some two and a half decades later by George Harrison).
"One In A Million" is a beautiful love song with a perfect Northern beat. It was also recorded by UK soul group Chapter Five, but never got beyond demo stage. Other versions also exist, but don't come a mile within Maxine's sensual vocals. On the flip is another mid-tempo beater, very under-rated, and from the pen of Maxine herself.
Both sides play and look closer to mint, and the labels are spotless.
The edges are completely chip-free.
As with all my sales, the record has been played on both sides to verify condition.
