Eldridge Holmes (1942 - 1998)
While Eldridge Holmes never had a sniff at any of the national charts, those in the know have been collecting his material avidly for a good many years. Unlike some of his peers (such as Fats Domino or Lee Dorsey), he never became a household name, and some may never even have heard of him. If you fall into the latter group, one listen to "Where Is Love" should convert you straight away. It certainly caused Decca to take note, because it was the only one of his seventeen singles to gain a national release. A couple of his later 45s currently sit in the price guides' £100+ category, but to get most of his output will take just a minimal amount of searching. This one, for example, books at only £20 - slightly less than that on it's Decca counterpart. As for the label, it can boast Northern titles by Maurice Williams, his old group The Zodiacs, Buddy Skipper, Warren Lee, Joe Haywood, and the scarce "Four Strong Winds" by Daisy Burris.
Listen to both sides in full via the above youtube links (not taken from the copy for sale).
The vinyl is virtually flawless (visual condition). Both sides play like new (sound quality).
Both labels are immaculate.
This record has been played on both sides to verify condition, but there's a full money-back guarantee on all my sales, and I'll refund anyone who isn't totally captivated. I use second-hand mailers for almost all of my sales, in order to keep packing costs down, but the majority are sent by 'signed for' delivery (fully inclusive in the P&P cost).
Domestic postal rates (sent recorded delivery, unless the winning bid is under £5):
One 7" single: £1.90; 40p per 7" afterwards.
One 12" single/LP: £2.90; 80p per 12"/LP afterwards.
YOU ARE ALWAYS WELCOME TO PICK UP THE ITEM IN PERSON.
