Welcome to my new-look soul sales.
Once again, I've had a revision of how I intend to sell some of my very large collection in the future, and have decided to be more ruthless in what I sell and what I keep. I haven't the equipment (or the intelligence) to provide my own sound clips, so will have to rely on your own good judgement - after all, soul lovers are the world's most knowledgeable and devoted collectors.
There will be some real gems, so make sure you keep your eyes open.
So, it's back to the beginning of the alphabet again.

The mighty Loma label was a soul subsidiary of Warner Bros., though it lost the plot a bit half way through it's life span - which was from 1964 to 1968. I've managed to get about 75% of it's releases, which include such legendary names as Linda Jones, J.J. Jackson, The Marvellos, The Apollas, Carl Hall, Kell Osborne, Ike (R.I.P.) & Tina Turner, (Little) Jerry Williams, Ben Aiken, The Soul Shakers, Lorraine Ellison, Solomon Burke (moonlighting as Lukas Lollipop - honest!), The Olympics....... I could go on a long, long time.
My love affair with the label began when I bought the seven "This Is Loma" LPs in 1977. The first volume was snapped up by every self-respecting Northern Soulie around, and included both sides of the single on offer here. I only know of one other release by Tony Amaro (on Stacy), but if it's as good as this one, then it's on my wants list. The official A-side here is a perfect mod beater, with plenty of Latin-American asides, a steady mid- to uptempo beat, and occasional backing cries of "hooh". It's very soulful as well. "Runnin' Around" is a thundering old-style stomper, with a non-stop boom-boom beat, and nice breaks. The label states 'Produced By Boom Records', and although this single never came out on Boom, it bears all the magic of those Dean Parrish 45s.
The vinyl has just a small number of light "spiders webs", and both sides play beautifully.
Both labels are fantastic, and the edges are completely chip-free.
