Description
Up for auction is a lot of 4 16" Radio Transcription Records.
All four are from THE METROPOLITAN OPERA in New York, NY and its performance of Puccini's "La Boheme" / Conducted by Arturo Toscanini
This performance was to be broadcasted on radio as presumably part of The Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast Series showcasing live performances that was (and still is) syndicated.
I believe these are from the 1940s or the 1950s since some of these are not dated by the broadcaster or program maker (which was marked out with a crayon, but scratching away underneath it states "Department of State - United States of America"- "Office Of International and Cultural Affairs" "International Broadcasting Division"). I believe, but am not sure these may have been broadcasted for the US Armed Forces overseas/internationally.
This performance of "La Boheme" was in 8 parts.
This auction includes ALL 8-parts complete on 4 of transcription record discs.
I don't have access to a proper player for these currently, but have graded them visually between a strong VG to VG+ grade.
Some of the discs show some mostly light scuffing and surface marks/scratches and dust from the sleeve/storage. They are actually on the cleaner side as far as transcription discs I've seen over the years.
All of them came with sleeves, that you can see pictured.
This lot will weigh 4-5 lbs. with proper packing material.
