ROLLING STONES England's Newest Hit Makers 1964 London LL 3375 Mono VG+ Not Fade Away
The Rolling Stones' debut US album, released May 1964 on London Records to coincide with the band's first American tour.
Recorded in four days at Regent Sound Studios in London on a two-track setup with egg cartons on the walls, the album is nearly all covers — a pure document of what the Stones were playing live every night.
Twelve tracks drawing from Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Jimmy Reed, Slim Harpo, and Marvin Gaye, with a single Jagger-Richards original in "Tell Me." Gene Pitney plays piano and Phil Spector plays maracas on "Little By Little." Ian Stewart on piano and organ throughout.
The US tracklist swaps out Bo Diddley's "I Need You Baby" for "Not Fade Away" — the Stones' third UK single and their first US chart entry. It opens Side 1 and sets the tone for everything that follows.
This is a US mono pressing on London Records, red label with boxed London logo, "Long Playing," catalog number LL 3375, "Made In U.S.A." Pressed at Columbia's Terre Haute plant — matrix ARL6291 T1 on Side 1, ARL6292 T7 on Side 2, both stamped. The T-codes identify the mold number from the Terre Haute facility, with multiple molds running simultaneously to meet demand.
The inner sleeve is the original London ffrr paper inner — cream stock with the London ffrr logo and "Full Frequency Range Recording" on the front, and the full ffrr "Symbol of Sound Progress" text printed on the reverse. Printed "Made in Great Britain."
This is the original UK-sourced inner sleeve that accompanied early copies of this title, a detail that separates this from the many later copies found with generic replacements.
