ALL IN ABSOLUTELY UN-PLAYED MINT CONDITION.

This is probably a once in a lifetime chance to own this rare collectable album that has remained

un-played and as crisp and clean as the day it was first presses and the sleeve first printed.

The album can only be visually graded to protect it’s un-played status.

Release Information: First mono issue on a black Columbia label with a BLUE Columbia trademark logo.

Description:

Front Cover:

Kaleidoscope picture of the band. The title, "PINK FLOYD" is at bottom center. EMI logo in upper left corner. Laminated flip back cover.

Back Cover:

Title, credits, and song listing. Catalogue number in upper right corner.

Un-laminated except for flip backs. On the bottom flip back it says "6709 TPS Printed and made by Ernest J. Day & Co. Ltd., London SX 6157 / SCX 6157." "File under POPULAR : Pop Groups." at the top right of the fold over.

Inner Sleeve:

Black and white inner sleeve. On the front is the EMI logo at the top centre, with "Add these outstanding LPs to your collection" at the top, 16 LP covers pictured in the middle including Both Sides of Herman's Hermits, and "Remember-the new Emitex cleans and preserves your records," and "Patents applied for" at the bottom. On the back side is the EMI logo at the top centre, with " - the greatest recording organization in the world" at the top, 16 LP covers pictured in the middle including the Beatles-Revolver, and "E.M.I. Records (The Gramophone Company Ltd.) Hayes - Middlesex - England, Made and Printed in Great Britain" at the bottom. Later issues have different LPs pictured, such as the Beach Boys-Pet Sounds, and do not show albums by the Beatles or Herman Hermits.

Label:

Black Columbia label with silver text, and a blue "Columbia Records Magic Notes Trademark" at the top, and a blue "Columbia" in the centre. Underneath the blue "Columbia" it says "Sold in U.K. subject to resale price conditions. See price lists."
Note: Some copies of this release have the song titles on the label in a larger font than other releases.
At the bottom of the label, it says "Made in Gt. Britain."
Text around the bottom edge of the label starts at 10 o'clock and says:

The Gramophone Co., Ltd. All rights of the manufacturer and of the owner of the recorded work reserved. Unauthorized public performance, broadcasting, and copying of this record prohibited.

Tax Stamp:

On side 1 within the circle that is stamped around the spindle hole are the letters "K" and "T," one on each side of the spindle hole.

Firstly let me assure you that all the photographs shown in this sale are actual pictures of this album.

If you do notice that some of these pictures are curved at the sides, this is nothing more than my camera and the sleeves are in perfect condition.

Now you may be curious as to how I came to have such a rarity.

In the sixties / seventies I was a DJ specialising in playing rock music.

playing a lot of progressive Psychedelic music such as Pink Floyd.

Now and again my agent who also run a well known record retail business would be sent brand new releases to sample, and this was indeed one of them.

(Remember this is not a promo or a sampler)

My agent was well aware that I played this kind of music and gave this album to me because I was the only DJ on his books who played this kind of music, but I never did play it  and in the space of one week I was given three more copies of this album, I used only one of these to play and the other three were stored in my cabinet for some 40 years.

as a result two of these albums have never been on a record deck and never had a stylus near it

There was small 2mm mark on the run in on side 2, this came from the actual pressing process and is hardly visible and dose not reach the first track beginning.

This mark was checked out when the album came on sale in 1967 and was found to be on several of these albums. this mark was visible on all four copies of the albums I have and in the same place.

On the album I used for playing this mark gave no problems at all. and as stated was obviously a pressing blemish. 

As you can probably guess there is a hefty reserve on this album and as I am reluctant to sell anyway, if this album dose not reach this reserve I am quite happy to return it to my own collection

If this item dose not sell it will be unlikely that it will be re-listed.

The last time this album came on the market in this condition but had been played it was on the 15/02/04 and reached a price of £1020 but my reserve is not quite this high.

 Owing some of the questions I have been asked I have added the following information.

The labels have NO spindle marks as this album is un-played.

Under a very very bright halogen lamp the vinyl has whispers of surface blemishes that are probably from the actual package process when the album was packaged.

these do not show only when put under a light of this kind and even then they are barely visible.

The File under popular music appeared on both first and second presses of this album depending on where the printing was done, and not on second presses only as it is thought.

Thsi is a genuine first press in MONO.
