Description
This is the first pressing of the first vinyl LP by CARAVAN, that I bought from new in 1969.
The LP is number SVLP 6011, and it has the numbers SVLP 6011 A-1, SVLP 6011 B-1 on the vinyl gap between the last track and label on sides 1 and 2 respectively.
The cover shows signs of wear, but quite good considering it is almost 40 years old.
Specifically, there are some small blistering lines in the coating of the front cover, noticeable in direct light.
There is a record shape imprint in the front cover, noticeable when viewed in direct natural light.
The corners of the cover are slightly rounded and show slight signs of feathering, where the coating has worn off.
The opening of the cover has slightly thickened edges, due to handling over the years.
The vinyl record is generally very good - side 1 in particular has no noticeable marks, even in direct natural light, side 2 has about 5 short thin surface scuffs on track 1 only - these are not audible on playing. The rest of the tracks on side 2 are good with no noticeable marks.
There are a number of spindle contact marks on the label near the centre hole, which is conducive with the album having been played over the years - I would guess that the number of plays would be in the region of 25-40 in total, as a guesstimate.
All-in-all, certainly not a mint or VG overall, but a good cover for the age, and a record that would be VG if not for the (non-audible) scuff marks on side 2 track 1.
The record will be packed between hard board for postage and insured.

GRADING: Having now looked at grading systems used by record shops, I would rate this record as follows:
COVER: VG++ for the cover - on the basis that it has no tears or marks, and light wear considering the age.
RECORD : VG++ for the record - on the basis that it has no marks apart from non-audible scuffs on side 2 track 1, and still sounds good when played.
