ABOUT THIS ITEM In 1982 EMI celebrated the 20th anniversary of the original UK release of Love Me Do by re-releasing the single. There was a black vinyl version and a picture disc. They continued to mark the 20th anniversary of each single all the way through to Let It Be in 1990. As close to the actual release date of the original, there would be a new picture disc in the record shops 20 years later.
At first it was relatively easy to get these records and some of them even made the top 40 (Love Me Do got higher in the charts than in 1962). As the years went by it became harder to get the normal picture sleeves, and often the picture discs had to be ordered for me by the record shop. Some were easier than others, songs like All You Need Is Love or Hey Jude for instance would be a bit more celebrated with newspapers and radio making a big deal of 'it was 20 years ago...', but tracks like Day Tripper, Hello Goodbye, Ballad of John & Yoko etc would not get the same publicity.
- All 22 came in heavy PVC sleeves - Some are Mono, some are Stereo as per originals - All are mint/unplayed - however a picture disc is not the same as black vinyl and a brand new picture disc is not guaranteed to play as well as good old vinyl.
