Here is a RARE 1975 "MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM" LP, ON YAZOO RECORDS, #1071, 245 Waverly Place, NY, NY address!!!
This is from an estate sale. Here is a very rare record of classic blues. With her rich, deep voice a Rainey was one of the foremost blues singers of her era and the musical 'godmother' of Bessie Smith. Her renditions of early blues quickly became standards copied by all in the field. She benefited from first-class accompaniments, whether jazz or jug band, country or city, by the best musicians of the time. This record is the closest thing you'll find to a sealed one, it looks brand new, no ring wear, a pristine cover. The record is in excellent condition, no scratches found, looks brand new, original owner probably didn't play it, I played it once to check it out, no skips or problems. I'd call the disc pristine. Here's a chance to get a very nice copy. THIS RECORD IS VERY RARE- NO OTHERS FOUND IN CURRENT AUCTIONS. My starting price is very fair for a record in this condition. The record will be shipped in a home-made box, I've mailed many like that over the years & have never had any problems. I will mail the disc in it's cellophane sleeve separately from the cover, they will both be in a thick vinyl sleeve.  There are no returns on albums as people like to swap out either the cover or record for the better one- I know the exact details on this, so no games.....

Ma Rainey (April 26, 1886 - December 22, 1939) was one of the earliest known American professional blues singers and one of the first generation of such singers to record. She was billed as The Mother of the Blues.

She began performing at the age of 12 or 14, and recorded under the name Ma Rainey after she and Will Rainey were married in 1904. They toured with F.S. Wolcott’s Rabbit Foot Minstrels and later formed their own group called Rainey and Rainey, Assassinators of the Blues. From the time of her first recording in 1923 to five years later, Ma Rainey made over 100 recordings. Some of them include, Bo-weevil Blues (1923), Moonshine Blues (1923), See See Rider (1924), Black Bottom (1927), and Soon This Morning (1927).

Ma Rainey was known for her very powerful vocal abilities, energetic disposition, majestic phrasing, and a ‘moaning’ style of singing similar to folk tradition. Though her powerful voice and disposition are not captured on her recordings, the other characteristics are present, and most evident on her early recordings, Bo-weevil Blues and Moonshine Blues. Ma Rainey also recorded with Louis Armstrong in addition to touring and recording with the Georgia Jazz Band. Ma Rainey continued to tour until 1935 when she retired to her hometown.

Tracks A6, B4, B6 rec. 1928 Yazoo Records is a record label founded in the late 1960s by Nick Perls. It specializes in early American blues, early country, jazz, and other rural American genres (collectively known as "roots" music).

The first five releases (L 1001 up to L 1005) were issued under the label name of Belzona Records. The label then was renamed to Yazoo Records, the first five releases being reissued under that new name.

The Belzona/Yazoo label (an art deco peacock) has been adapted from the 1927 Black Patti label.

On Yazoo Records Nick Perls compiled rare 78 rpm recordings made in the 1920s by such singers and guitarists as Charlie Patton, Blind Willie McTell, the Memphis Jug Band, Blind Blake and Blind Lemon Jefferson.

On Yazoo's sister label Blue Goose Records, founded in 1970, Perls recorded 'rediscovered' black blues artists and younger blues and jazz performers.

In 1989 Yazoo was acquired by Shanachie Records. .
