PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Brian Eno's first solo album is a progressive/psychedelic mixed masterpiece utilizing skillful electronic effects in full on psychedelic-rock format. It' delivers arty, experimental, adventurous & complex played melodies wrapped up in superb always ultra-catchy song-craft.
"HERE COME THE WARM JETS" features a range of collaborators from a dazzlingly broad spectrum of prog traditions, with members from Roxy Music, King Crimson, Hawkwind, Pink Fairies and Matching Mole among those helping out. Particularly significant contributors include King Crimsons mad genius Robert Fripp, of whom co-authors some of the tracks.
First off, just looking at the musician's on this album is enough motivation to consider a purchase. If it was 1973 and you saw John Wetton and Robert Fripp together on an album, well let's just say that your money was gone fairly quickly. Robert Fripp makes his presence known on the third track, "Baby's On Fire", with a blistering bizarre guitar solo that lasts about 3 minutes. Hawkwind were at their peak in '73 and Eno manages to grab a bit of their mojo...
The opening song, "Needles In The Camel's Eye" has a very punk-rock rich vibe and highly infectious (catchy) melody going through it, the second song, "The Paw Paw Negro Blowtorch", has a very stylistic rock appearance to it, combined with the glossy keyboards and weird lyrics. "Baby's On Fire" is one of Eno's most (best) praised songs from his "vocal" period, mainly because of Fripp's backwards/forwards delightful guitar solo . Aside from the manic soloing, Eno provides some excellently twisted lyrics and interesting sound effects manipulations. "Cindy Tells Me" is a rarity for an Eno album, a song that actually uses a nice vocal harmony amid ultra-catchy melody. "Driving Me Backwards" closes out the A-side with some more interesting synthesizers and sound effects manipulations falling off the edge into experimentation acid-space.
The B-side: "On Some Faraway Beach" is an absolutely breath-taking song, and with its dreamy keys and atmospheres you actually get the feeling of being on a beach. This just might be the only hint to Eno's future career in all of his first albums. The atmosphere is quickly shattered by the loud drum beating of "Blank Frank". Once again, kudos to Eno's production skills. All of the multi-instrument layering makes this song a very interesting listen, whereas any other producer might have turned it into a disheveled mess. "Dead Finks Don't Talk", with it's spoken lead vocals (save for the choruses) and lounge style keys sounds like a bad song on paper, however it is actually a very enjoyable listen, again very infectious. The next- to-last song, "Some Of Them Are Old" is another stellar track, even if we never get to find out who Lucy is. The beautiful ascending chord progression going into the choruses is a touch of brilliance as well. The album ends with the title track, "Here Come The Warm Jets", and it is in the same vein as "On Some Faraway Beach", with the use of all the fuzzy electronics to create swirling atmospheres. A brilliant album overall to say the least....
