Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us.  Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable.  We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over 18,000 positive feedback.   We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support.   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING:   USA ~ 1 LP = $4.00 Media Priority rates vary by area; please inquire.   All Canadian and Overseas shipping ~ Please inquire about rates. Long time sought after British only limited edition from 1972 ... a top level essential collectible for anyone into hardrock, psychrock and/or progressive rock containing thrilling long acid-spacerock jams by both HAWKWIND and MAN in their peak days...1972

Greasy Truckers Party ; a 1972 live album by legendary London Underground artists recorded at a February 1972 Greasy Truckers concert at the Roundhouse in London. The concert featured three bands, Man, Brinsley Schwarz and Hawkwind, and musician Magic Michael. Original double vinyl album, released as a limited edition ~ it rapidly sold out, and became a collector's item.

Greasy Truckers were "a loose organization of individuals whose ideals were based on those of the Diggers in San Francisco, recycling money into worthwhile causes." This album was the first of two albums recorded at concerts in London organized by Greasy Truckers, the second being Greasy Truckers Live at Dingwalls Dance Hall (1974). All proceeds from the concert and LP sales went to Greasy Truckers' project to build a hostel in Notting Hill Gate.

The concert was due to run from 3PM until midnight and include performances by Byzantium and others, but wage disputes between the unions and the government had led to frequent power cuts, one of which occurred in the early evening, giving an unusual album track "Power cut".

  • The fire brigade asked the audience to leave, but when power was resumed, and the audience re-admitted, hundreds more people came in. In defiance of the Fire department, many people stayed inside, temporary lighting was set up and the audience was entertained

Man, occupies this set with long extended jams, delivers amazing hard psych from start to finish in an excellent set. Man, more a progressive band than otherwise, had gained stature as a strong London underground band, where most of their appreciation came from the sizzling live shows . Here with a more than 20-minute rendition of “Spunk Rock,” a powerhouse song that readily reveals the qualities of the band, and, in this case, blows the doors off the club. Like many excellent bands of that time period, MAN never received the full recognition that they deserved, despite having released top-seller albums and live sets (which, as stated, complemented them more than anything). Their performance on this set is exemplary, easily worth the price of what this set goes for.

The second disc is dedicated to Brinsley Schwartz, a band that not only employed a richness of styles, but, when splintered, went on to achieve other levels of success amongst themselves. Bassist Nick Lowe, went on to a successful solo/producing/songwriting career and a brief stint with Dave Edmunds in Rockpile. The Brinsley Schwartz band that is heard on this album, however, used rural, blues, not unlike the sound of early 70's Grateful Dead. Contrasting the extended efforts of Man, and Hawkwind, this band still held their own with smart songs and a well-performed show.

The second disc is finished out with the addition of a song from odd man performer, Magic Michael. Magic Michael is an artist that very few have ever heard of; and his folk/psych performance is likely an interlude to the bands featured.

The 4th side is the musical document of Hawkwind’s involvement with the event. Acting as headliner, Hawkwind was the last performance of the evening. Featuring a newly joined and pre-Motorhead, Lemmy Kilmister, Hawkwind’s set is a superb performance full of energy... the spacy and innovative energies that one would expect from the band. Their performance is exceptional, driving, heavy and psyched-out, including a then previously unheard new tune in the excellent “Silver Machine,” which ended up a much different song in other performances.
