PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. 1971 VERTIGO SWIRL =ORIGINAL=
AFRO-BEATS-PROG-EXOTICA
ASSAGAI
\ USA - SWIRL VERTIGO - VEL 1004
TOP COPY = UNOPENED...
Way hard to find STILL SEALED ORIGINAL "SWIRL VERTIGO"
Original 1971 first pressing vinyl ...Assagai (may also refer to Assegai -Horse-) was an Afro-Prog-Rock band from South Africa , active in London's early 1970's happening scene.
ASSAGAI contains several original songs written by members of the band and cool takes on The Beatles "Hey Jude" and of Jade Warrior's "Telephone Girl"...all the tracks are electrified & moving with moving rhythms to get the blood boiling...
So...our travels continue in Zibabwe Africa with Assagai...
Assagai was an Afro-beat/prog group consisting of South Africans and Nigerians that recorded in England. What is best about their sound is that they had concise, well structured tuneful songs unlike some Afro-beat groups that composed epic tracks that move into extended jam sessions.
Jade Warrior's "Telephone Girl" makes an excellent beginning with two full measures of open drums before short wind breaks penatrate the rhythms in stabs & jabs getting the listeners attntion in wonderment, ala "what's this !?!" Eventually the vocals and the rest of the band join in. That’s followed by Akasa, also featuring cool Afro-Beat drum breaks. The equally funky grooves of "Cocoa" follow....very moving, and if this stuff doesn't energize the listner nothing will... The rest of the album is a mix of with fiery Afro-Beat rhythms augmented in variation with laid back melodic infused tunes as with "Irin Ajolawa" (another Tony Duhig/Jade Warrior composition) and "Ayioe"
When ASSAGAI are pounding away on their drums and the backing spice and guitars rally up the prog/funk exotica they are wonderful.
Telephone Girl (Tony Duhig/Jon Field/Jade Warrior) Akasa Hey Jude Cocoa Irin Ajolawa (Tony Duhig/Jade Warrior) Ayioe Beka I'll Wait For You
CONDITION: a RARE never opened STILL SEALED 1971 original pressing with NO split aseams, no bends, no writing and only a small delete drill at top right...
Seldom seen ASSAGAI...from Africa come London on VERTIGO....
A cool addition to anyone's music library!
