RARE and sought 1971 hard psych rock ripper ... This is an advance released rare promotional collectible, though check the condition below the song listings.... The storied THEM had lost singer Van Morrison in 1966 and moved to Texas in the hotbed of garage rock action, then promptly issued some remarkable garage & psych albums on both TOWER and HAPPY TIGER labels...Them's IN REALITY features some shredding fuzzrock of the best kind...
Highlights include opening two tracks, which are extended heavy power-trio versions of their two biggest hits, 'Gloria' and 'Baby Please Don't Go'. The versions here are better than the originals and show that original THEM member Alan Henderson knew exactly what the band's situation was by including them. But there's a lot of great music on this album...Other tracks contain sharp dirty distortion (big muff fuzz tone) and wah-wah guitar tones...And don't think for a minute, though, that other serious rock musicians weren't paying attention: the opening riff played by guitarist Jim Parker on 'Let My Song Through' was directly lifted and used by Lynyrd Skynyrd on 'Sweet Home Alabama'. Them play it with an offhanded abandon as opposed to Skynyrd's polished technicality, but this is where they got it, folks...

CONDITION: The cover is solid with no seam splits, no bends, a promo sticker on front cover and a lot of thin pen writing by former owner on front and back which detracts so VG, there is light age spots on back cover only... but then again, the record plays SO nicely...
The vinyl (the labels are both clean) otherwise the vinyl is still glossy with numerous very soft slight hairline scuffs that are not deep, because while visual is VG, the record was played and checked carefully, playing excellent from start until very last track on side two which detected a couple very light ticks...overall the vinyl plays as well as another collectors $200 paid for copy. Guaranteed.
