"1971 PEPSI-COLA RADIO" SPOT ADS PROMOTIONAL LP SDC 1722 (1971)
MEGA RARE COLLECTIBLE 2-LP SET pressed in 1971 for radio DJs to play spot ads promoting Pepsi-Cola.
Talk about an unusual and fascinating release!!! Imagine hearing Johnny Cash, Tammy Wynette and BB King (and five other artists of the era) singing 2 minute jingles promoting Pepsi-Cola. Surely one of the most rare collection of performances of legendary artists ever released on vinyl. Each of the jingles on all four sides are separated by dead wax, to allow the DJ to cherry pick the one track he/she wishes to feature. A rare and novel item indeed!!!
Both LPs are in superb condition and play "like new", flawed only by very light superficial paper scuffs that have no discernible impact on sound quality. Super high gloss remains on both discs. Labels are clean and bright, look just a bit shy of "like new", flawed only by a few light age spots. Label print is crystal clear.
Gatefold jacket is rough to be sure, in merely GOOD condition. Front and back color artwork and text (jingle lyrics!!!) are rich and clear, with modest rub wear. Inside gatefold area features vintage B&W photos and career highlights of each of the eight artists, with text that is clear and bright. But seams and spine are in poor condition. Seams are almost entirely split, with multiple pieces of residual tape present at the jacket edges. Spine has substantial rub wear and is partially split. Corners have suffered substantial bump damage. As the LPs cannot be housed in the jacket in its current condition, I will deliver this package in a professional poly outer sleeve for future storage.

This is surely one of the most rare and interesting items I have ever put up for sale, a unique collectible indeed. The jacket condition is an issue to be sure but the wax on both discs is primo. Hoping this novel 2-LP promo goes to a good home.
