SCARCE 1971 ORIGINAL first pressing on the old PINK Kama Sutra label....
DUST is a legendary U.S. hardrock trio with prog & psych edges is highly sought after by collectors over the years especially with the original pink label first pressing....
The first album from Dust is interesting on many levels. The Lp features some high energized tracks, such as 'From a Dry Camel' or the extended 'Loose Goose'. Great bass playing by Kenny Aaronson, ripping leads by Ritchie Wise and with quite fast drumming by Marc Bell (aka Marky Ramone): if you like stuff in the veins of Cactus or Blue Cheer check it out! This trio wasn't just about bashing it out but also had a developed melodic infusion within the tracks that worked well with the heavy accents....
This record is the document of a musicians who would go on to do more substantial work in the industry. "Stone Woman," with its shimmering slide guitar work from Aaronson, would've fit perfectly on a Mountain record. What Dust was all about is kind of difficult to get a handle on. A hard rock band for sure, and certainly spirited; the listener has to wonder if the group is successful when progressive, or if things might be better served by staying on the straight and narrow hardrock lane. "Chasin' Ladies" sports a real cool riff and pretty eerie vocal by Wise, while the one song contributed by Aaronson, "Loose Goose," becomes a cool heavy jam. For their image, Dust used a photo from the catacombs on the front cover and a camel in the desert on the back. It's an amalgam of hard rock and progressive sounds. Interesting stuff and worth having...
