NOTE: eBay has implemented its new FEEDBACK policy to which ANY customer for ANY reason or ANY excuse can give sellers (i.e. "us") negative feedback. Please understand, we have served thousands of "satisfied" customers and processed thousands of orders - far more than our feedback records indicate - It is our intention to give EACH and EVERY buyer our best possible service and we are known to ALWAYS deliver your purchased item. ALL items paid for are processsed 'outbound'  to each and EVERY customer, satisfaction guaranteed.  Keep in mind we have serviced THOUSANDS of satisfied customers and our aim is to continue to do so.

We make every effort to mail all orders out Friday of each week.  Keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two at most.   We also strive to keep our shipping and handling costs as close to actual charges as reasonable.

TO OUR REPEAT CUSTOMERSWe often get requests to hold orders to save on shipping.  We are happy to do thatPlease pay your current invoice within five days of auctions ending and IF YOU REQUEST we will hold your order and reflect a shipping discount for each additional order shipped together in the same parcel.   To receive continual shipping discounts, we will hold your orders as long as you want, but it is necessary to pay each invoice you receive to stay current.   Most importantly, we appreciate your business.

1971 first pressing VINYL

     JEFFERSON AIRPLANE

               BARK

...USA - Grunt Records - FTR 1001

Original 1971 VINYL first pressing with the specially designed 'grocery bag' over the cover. The grocery bag is slightly oversized and is extremely difficult to find without tears or frayed edges - this one is M- clean well preserved!

Bark, released in 1971, is one of the strong late-period albums by Jefferson Airplane, notable for many "firsts" with its major personnel change. It was the first without band founder Marty Balin and the first with violinist Papa John Creach. Drummer Spencer Dryden had also departed, being replaced by Joey Covington. This was the first all new Airplane LP in two years, the previous being Volunteers, released in 1969. It was also the first to be released under the Jefferson Airplane owned Grunt Records label.

Lead guitarist Jorma Kaukonen has no less than four songwriting credits on this album, indicative of his growing importance as a composer. At the time of the album's release, he and bassist Jack Casady had already recorded two albums for their spin-off blues group Hot Tuna

The cover of the original vinyl LP release featured a fish with human false teeth wrapped in paper and tied with string, as though it were bought in a grocery store. The LP record itself comes in a brown paper bag with the "JA" logo. The "JA" logo is an homage to the A&P supermarket chain.

The first album on the band's own Grunt label, BARK marks the precise moment when the Airplane began to go a little wiggy. With founding member Marty Balin and longtime drummer (and by Airplane standards normal sort of guy) Spencer Dreyden gone, the band's grown-up contingent was noticeably under-represented, and the result was occasionally pointless, if amusing, stoned whimsy, as in Joey Covington's' "Thunk," or Grace Slick's over-the-top "Never Argue With a German If You're Tired," sung, of course, auf deutch; (years later, she let on it was about her relation with fellow band member Paul Kantner).

Fortunately, when the cannabis haze cleared, the band was very capable of excellent music. "When the Earth Moves Again," for example, is classic Airplane, a big anthemic song with soaring massed harmonies played against an instrumental track that sounds more chaotic than it really is, in part due to new member Papa John Creach's violin, employed as a sinister drone along the lines of John Cale's viola in the Velvet Underground. Also of note is the ironic "Pretty As You Feel," the album's hit single, and guitarist Jorma Kaukonnen's "Third Week in the Chelsea," a resignation letter every bit as eloquent as Peter Gabriel's "Solsbury Hill."

1. When The Earth Moves Again 2. Feel So Good 3. Crazy Miranda 4. Pretty As You Feel 5. Wild Turkey 6. Law Man 7. Rock and Roll Island 8. Third Week In The Chelsea 9. Never Argue with a German If You're Tired or European Song 10. Thunk 11. War Movie

CONDITION: The specially designed grocery bag outer is clean and top shape M-, the inner (fish head) hard cover is "EX" (excellent) no problems ...
