1970 original first pressing in THICK gatefold cover ... This album is hard enough even to find in "used" condition, but a TOP M- original?!? wOw !!
In between Supersnazz and this second album, the Groovies met the MC5 and the Stooges in Detroit, were left in total awe about what they saw, and decided: 'This is the way to go!'. The Groovies could rock, sure enough, and the Groovies cranked up their amps and kicked up the tempos, while producer Richard Robinson stripped the band's sound to the bone ala the Mc5's 'Back In The USA' Lp ...and they're cookin', check out Tim Lynch's guitar and Danny Mihm's drums (and who fell in love with the panning control while they were mixing?). Flamingo sometimes sounds more like a demo than a finished album which gives it that raw charm, even so, it's a demo of a great band firing on all cylinders; with "Gonna Rock Tonite," the album starts out in fifth gear and never stops, with even the less manic tunes (such as the bluesy "Childhood's End") sounding sharp and full of fire, and the many rave-ups raving mighty fine indeed (notable exception: the trippy "She's Falling Apart," which proves these guys didn't understand psychedelia and had no business playing it, which was a considerable virtue in the Bay Area during the late '60s and early '70s). If the engineering sometimes lets them down, Flamingo does a far, far better job of capturing what made the Groovies a great band and ranks alongside their very finest work.

CONDITION: The thick gatefold cover is M- (small hard to see delete circle at bottom right is all) NOT with the usual shelf wear = the 41 year old first pressing is stiff and solid and clean... TOP COPY!
The vinyl on PINK Kama Sutra label is very clean M- ... all shiny on both sides, smooth and clean ...obviously looks and plays top level, CLEAN with clean labels
