Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us.  Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable.  We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over 18,000 positive feedback.   We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support.   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING:   USA ~ 1 LP = $4.00 Media Priority rates vary by area; please inquire.   All Canadian and Overseas shipping ~ Please inquire about rates. No less than three separate reviews below = all with similar takes:

Fans of the Art Ensemble should not sleep on this. The 41-minute continuous piece "Reese" and "The Smooth Ones" (can't tell where one stops and the other begins) manages the difficult combination of offhand and precise that eluded the Art Ensemble more than half the time on record. The sound is plenty vibrant on the original LP version and Malachi Favors plays enough small percussion that drums are not really missed. The saxes of Roscoe Mitchell and Joseph Jarman are in particularly fine full cry, never suggesting that the pauses are to cover for lack of new direction to play. Don't let this vanish into your void .

The Art Ensemble are some of the most versatile, creative, and skilled improvisors in any idiom, and this is one of their finest displays of on-the-spot brilliance. Whether they're dropping funky melodies, letting reeds careen over immersive percussion, or confronting you with shredding noise guitar (yes, this really happens for a few seconds!), this album is constantly engaging, immediate, and even accessible. Following this extended piece is no problem -- it's much less daunting than, say, a Peter Brotzmann Tentet session, or even a Cecil Taylor composition. Lovers of improv, the jazz avant garde, and vibrant, fun genre-swapping music owe it to themselves to check this out. Some of the Art Ensemble's best early work.

Beautiful work from the Art Ensemble – and one of their undisputed classics! The record features some of the most perfectly realized moments the band ever cut to wax, with a blend of whimsical multi-instrumental improvisation, and a strong sense of the spiritual tradition in jazz. The album features one long piece – "Reese & The Smooth Ones" – and it's a stunning array of spontaneous instrumentation, with a jagged sound that never stops reinventing itself!

CONDITION: The cover  rated: "EX" (excellent) ...LAMINATED gatefold cover is a final collection copy with all things (rarity) considered ...just like their first "Jackson's Garden" LP we offer this week, the French only issue is elaborate with nice colorful graphics ...no split seams, no writing & NO delete marks... will look *fine* in any collection!

The vinyl  rated: M-  both sides are filled with bright shine ...having NO marks; no scratches, no scuffs. Expect to play in excellent audio level ... the French BYG labels are both clean, the pressing notorious for sub-par quality, is actually quite clean considering reputation.
