CLEAN playing vinyl...

Thee sought after RARE 1969 first pressing of quite a strong psychedelic laced outfit with a surprising load of enjoyably, even thrillingly fresh moves across both sides...every fan of the genre should have a copy in their collection...

From North Carolina, NOVA LOCAL issued their only album in 1969, "Nova 1" a surprisingly strong psychedelic rock sound with crafted pop injections that together work so well, getting a major Decca Records contract...rather varied song stylings and sophisticated production. Great vocals. Great playing. The first track really grabbed us because it has jagged pauses! Some expensive (Decca) backing arrangements & studio sounds, sitar, backwards tape effects, etc in the mix, a very psychedelic record in the usual sense of trippy 60s rock that altogether rates near mindblowing especially once it hooks you on repeat plays (a real grower).

"$5 Ticket" is garagey-punk with a killer intro, some punchy accents and it's psychedelic in  construction both vocally and with the screaming guitars.

"If You Only Had The Time" A more folk-rock approach, and you can sense with this one, it's goning to be a solid album. Very confident sound, and the harmonies are awesome.

"Yascha Knew Deli Intimately" Quick Psych tape manipulation which will fit in very nicely the next time up 'do' acid...

"A Visit From It, The King" A minute-plus ditty of distinction, mainly because of the background harmonies, which are subtle only in pitch. They say "groovy" too. It's a cute little song which is all the better because they kept it short. Good move, Boys!!

"Tobacco Road" At 6:48, this is a real test, and the side 1 closer. Starts beautifully mellow for 2 verses, then takes a killer organ lead into a heavier take. Then suddenly transend into an amazing rhythm change before the chorus and keeps getting heavier. This is something to hear folks, truly an inspired version of this classic. Maybe the best version ever!

"Hitch Hike" Starts like side 1 with a nice studio effect intro. This crew has their sound together, no doubt, first rate. This tune is heavy, very nuanced and incredibly well constructed.
"Morning Dew" If they do half of what they did with "Tobacco Road," you're in for a treat. They are not just a hard rocking psych band, they really think out their arrangements and pull it off beautifully with total cohesion and confidence.

"Forgotten Man" Great title, great intro, is this with early mellotron backing? An original, and it's another great song with outstanding harmonies and some sitar enhancement !

"Dear Jimi" dedicated to the great guitarist with backward guitars...psychedelic sounds to trip us out.
"And I Remember" Heavy blues...the singer also plays guitar, which makes perfect sense. They totally rock this.
"John Knight's Body" A more pop perfection edge. Very well done, no surprise there. Again, very well written and performed.

CONDITION: The cover is solid all over (meaning strong seams and no bebds) but the dark cover is more than pretty hard to find without shelf wear, this copy has ring wear and a one word name on back cover (upper left) and tiny tiny bb delete at top right ...otherwise certainly serviceable coupled with the clean playing vinyl ...

The vinyl is all shiny over both sides, with nothing more than meaningless hairline soft scuff here or there, vastly clean, VG++ and plays really exellent through every track without audio problem... and has clean Decca labels...

A cool addition to anyone's music library!
