Produced by FRANK ZAPPA only single released off Trout Mask Replica- [possibly for those brave fans that sat in a turnip field for days to see Frank & The Magic Band!] This seriously rare disc has an AMAZING picture sleeve and what makes this sale extra special is this 1969 P/S has NO CREASES! NO TEARS!! / NO WRITING!!! [& is in excellent condition thru-out!]
The photograph shows Don Van Vliet aka Captain Beefheart holding the microphone, looking sideways directly into the camera and "Zoot Horn Rollo" in full 'vagabond from venus' regalia, playing 'glass finger' guitar in the background. The iconic sleeve photo was taken in October 1969 onstage at the Amougies Festival in Belgium. It is generally considered to be the one of the "most sought after" 45s in the Psych/Garage collecting world outside of SYD BARRETT's mega obscure French pic sleeve"Octopus"/"Golden Hair"
Until a year or so ago go it was the most expensive stock Frank Zappa related 7" sold on EBay, until an equally rare MINT- Australian Mothers of Invention 45 fetched a few pennies more! (I know this as I was the under-bidder!) & more recently the Mega Rare 'Masters' 45 on Emmy
I truly feel that the 2 tracks are possibly the most 'UNLIKELY' choice for a single you will ever hear anywhere in the world - It is THE MAGIC BAND at there most innovative incarnation & may well be worth much, much more in a few years time in this condition.
