Description
This is a marvellous example of the innovative 1969 Transatlantic UK LP by Circus. One of the first jazz influenced prog-rock albums of the time, member Mel Collins was later associated with both King Crimson and Camel.
The colourful gatefold sleeve is laminated both inside and out and this total (i.e. expensive!) process has no doubt protected the cover through the years. It's a very nice solid example with no rips, splits, sticker tears, markings or writing and with the edges and spine length looking good. All I can report on the negative side is slight rubbing at the spine ends, some minor creasing on the top of the front cover at the mouth caused by laminate shrinkage plus signs of ringwear on the back. So condition wise I rate it 8 /10 at worse!
Labels are coloured white / lilac with the 'T' Logo which denotes the LP is the genuine 1969 issue as opposed to anything else! On the adjacent run-off grooves the machine etching shows STRA 207-A2 and STRA 207-B2 on the respective sides. The labels are super clean and I really can't see much evidence of the record having been played by way of spindle tracks at the holes, the holes being clean and tight which is what you want to see.
On to the vinyl itself which is flat with no dishing and fresh and shiny in appearance. Typically at first glance it looks minty but angled under a searching and unforgiving light shows shows light scuff, paper and handling marks. But I am by necessity playing the devils' advocate as it really is in fine overall condition which warrants an EXC- rating or 8 /10 numerically.
Finally, the inner sleeve is the plain original issue with a folded rear and polythene inner. As the photos show it's in clean and untorn condition and any spots are the aged glue to stick the paper and poly together.
