WITH MUCH APPRECIATION TO ALL OUR CUSTOMERS: If you have a question on orders received, please contact us. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. When leaving Feedback, please consider the following: eBay's policy on the 5-star rating system is anything less than a 5 reduces our standing with eBay and ultimately can affect our selling abilities. SO please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so.
We have a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 2/3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers.
We mail all paid orders out once a week on Fridays/Saturdays. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule to Monday. We strive to keep our shipping and handling costs as close to actual charges as reasonable. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. Please be aware we have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.
TO OUR REPEAT CUSTOMERS: We are happy to hold orders to save on shipping. Please pay your current invoice within five days of auctions ending and, if you request, we will hold your order and reflect a shipping discount for each additional order shipped together in the same parcel.
As always, thank you for your support!
RARE "CLEAN" 1968 STEREO ORIGINAL
THE HOUR GLASS
POWER OF LOVE
...USA - Liberty Records - LST 7555 STEREO
Rare original 1968 first pressing in stereo of the second album by the Hour Glass that contained both Duane & Gregg Allman just a year before they left California to Georgia and started The Allman Brothers Band...
Includes the original 1968 printed Liberty Records inner sleeve to the pressing...
Here, the powerful sound of the early ALLMAN BROTHERS (both Gregg & Duane) when they were a hard working Sunset Strip California club band, known as THE HOUR GLASS. Making two albums in L.A. (this is the better 2nd), the Hour Glass broke up in later '68 and both Gregg & Duane went back to Alabama, to form the legendary Allman Brothers Band....
After the failure of their debut album, Liberty Records allowed a greater independence for the group, who had been virtually shut out of the decision making for their debut by the label and producer Dallas Smith. However, with the label's decision to retain Smith as producer, the group, especially Duane Allman, felt constricted by their desires for the album in opposition to the label's expectations.
With Smith behind the boards, Gregg Allman was still the focus. The younger Allman, who had seen only one of his compositions grace the debut, ended up contributing seven of the twelve tracks. The group performed all of the instrumentation, with Duane Allman adding electric sitar to their cover of The Beatles' "Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)", a staple of their live act.
Neil Young of Buffalo Springfield wrote the liner notes, describing his experience sitting in on the session for the album track "To Things Before", watching Gregg Allman leading the group through the number. With Duane and Gregg fronting the otherwise unfamiliar lineup its not Allmans' sound, but, instead L.A. bluesy garage & acid rock, vaguely like the the Buffalo Springfield minus the harmonies plus cool skating-rink organ & Duane's legendary (distortion)guitar licks get plastered on everything. The band seems comfortable on the slow Southern blues numbers ("To Things Before"; "I'm Hanging Up My Heart For You"). Gregg was already writing plenty of good tunes and singing up a storm, and Duane was a first-class guitarist despite not yet having mastered the slide and playing with disortion effects on track after track ("Going Nowhere" etc.)
