PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. ORIGINAL 1968 first pressing by these Dallas Texas hotshots featuring the angelic vocals of Dan Seals and John Colley, fusing their heavenly harmonies with mind-bending Farfisa-organ stylings and fuzz-drenched guitar work. In short, they had everything that was wonderful about mid-'60s rock & roll...
In 1967 SOUTHWEST F.O.B. played a gig in Dallas with visiting L.A outfit, the West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band. Impressed by the WCPAE Band's tune, "Smell Of Incense", they decided to record it, shortening it for radio consumption and adding superbly-executed five-part harmonies. The result was a hit single which reached No. 56 in the Billboard chart.
Their pleasant soft rock album was recorded at Robin Hood Brians studios in Tyler, Texas on October 25/27th, 1968, and has some psychedelic influences as well as a risqué (for 1968) cover shot of four naked women enclosed in a plexiglass box (calling Dr. Freud!).
And Another Thing is an interesting extended 11:25 minutes track, much in the In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida mold, with echoing drums rolling back and forth across the stereo mix over a bass ostinato. There are also good versions of Buffalo Springfield's Rock 'N' Roll Woman and Chuck Berry's Nadine as well as a few harbingers of England Dan and John Ford Coley's somewhat bland future sound.
Southwest F.O.B were apparently a killer live act to the extent that they reportedly blew Led Zeppelin off stage in August, 1969 (a gig which culminated in Zeke setting his cymbals on fire and throwing his drum kit all over the stage). They generally opened with a set of soul covers then, after a costume change, did a set of Cream-like hard rock and finished with a set of original material. They were also known for their attire (powder blue double-breasted suits with high collars) which were designed by their guitarist, Ovid.
