1967 Orig. Doors Break On Through 7" US Elektra EK-45611 Picture Sleeve Morrison ______________________________
This is the holy grail of Doors / Morrison 45 picture sleeves! As the story goes, Right after The Doors released their first album in 1967, they released 'Break On Through' as a single with the picture sleeve ...and it flopped. No one bought it. Many 45s were discounted or pulled from the shelves for lack of sales. Some of them, like this one, even were given a drill hole on the front to show they had been returned from the retailer. A couple of months later, 'Light My Fire' started getting a lot of airplay so it was released, (without a picture sleeve) and soared to No. 1 on the charts....
Condition: This listing is for the original US sleeve and the first edition 'Elektra Lady' 45rpm that is just as hard to find as the sleeve. The condition of the sleeve is Very good to excellent. It is one of the best ones I have seen in over 20 years in dealing with Doors memorabilia. It isn't perfect: There is some light wear on the top edge and on both sides plus the small drill hole mentioned above - all is shown in my photos. The 45 is only in good condition. It has many scrapes and scratches and a previous owner's name written on it. Even in this condition it is still very sought after. Please check my pictures and message me with any questions!
Don't be mislead by some dishonest sellers and pay $800 for the reproduction sleeve made last year.
Thanks for looking!
