THIS IS A 2xLP LOT , BOTH 1967 1st & 2nd DOORS ALBUMS FEATURING THE HIGHLY SOUGHT MONO MIXES reportedly contain different song mixes from the stereo issues. The first LP in particular, the so called "uncensored" MONO mix is included. Both records and covers are no better than playable without jumps or skips in "VG" condition. They are not mint and contain surface crackle or ticks in places but largely play enjoyable to the point the surface is not always present.
The first Doors album was an important development in the evolution of rock, representing the dark underbelly of the '60s counterculture, the Jekyll to the Beatles/Beach Boys' Hyde. Morrison's drinking, exhibitionistic performances, and drug-taking affected his input at recordings. "Let's just say I was testing the bounds of reality," The Doors were the antithesis of windblown Californian pop. Dark, brooding and alienated, every element of the quartet's metier was unveiled on their debut album. In Jim Morrison they posessed one of rock's authoritative voices, while the group's dense instrumental prowess reflected his lyrical mystery. Highly literate, they wedded Oedipian tragedy with counter-culture nihlism and, in "Light My Fire", expressed exotic images previously unheard in pop. The 11-minute Oedipal drama "The End" was the group at its most daring and, some would contend, overambitious. It was nonetheless a haunting cap to an album whose nonstop melodicism and dynamic tension would never be equaled by another group again, let alone bettered. Howlin' Wolf, Brecht and Weill are acknowledged as musical reference points, a conflict between the physical and cerebral that give THE DOORS its undiluted tension. Or you can just enjoy it as a brilliant album that sucks you in as it breathes out the '60's.

The second 1967 " Strange Days" partially consists of great songs that did not make it onto their debut album, such as " Moonlight Drive", which was one of the first songs written by Jim Morrison for The Doors. The song was recorded in 1965 (demo) and 1966 (intended for their first album). In 1967 a final version was recorded and released on this album. Strange Days contains some of The Doors' most psychedelic songs. It includes songs such as "Strange Days", "People Are Strange", "Love Me Two Times" and " When the Music's Over". The latter is an epic poem that is comparable to the famous "The End".
The cover photo was taken in Sniffen Court, a small residential mews in New York City. Jim Morrison refused to appear on the cover, so photographer Joel Brodsky decided to use a circus-like photograph for the cover image. However, most carnivals were out on summer tours so it was a struggle for Brodsky to find professional circus performers. The acrobats were the only ones he could find; the dwarf Lester Janus and his younger brother Stanley Janus (who appeared on the back cover) were hired from an acting firm; the juggler was Brodsky's own assistant; the trumpet player was a taxi driver; and the strongman was a doorman at a club. On another note, the back cover depicts a robed woman standing in one of the house doorways looking down at one of the dwarf brothers. She has since been identified by People Magazine as the stylist of Joel Brodsky's wife, Zazel Lovén. In addition to this, the original idea for the front cover was a reflection of the group in a mirror which the dwarf's would carry. Jim Morrison stated that he did not want to be on the cover at all, so a poster of the band members was discretely shown on the right end of the sleeve.

The vinyl: Rated: "VG" both records, contain light scuffs and/or hairline marks. There will be stray areas of surface crackle and/or light ticks. A vast majority playing enjoyable. These are NOT mint records, they are enjoyable if you don't mind some light surface. BOTH records contain MONO song mixes, guaranteed 52 years ago pressings.
