Rare & original second album ~ early SF SOUND Byrdsy Melodics
The BEAU BRUMMELS
Volume 2
\ USA - AUTUMN RECORDS - 104
1965 MONO originsal first pressing of the terrific second Beau Brummels album...
Featuring Sal Valentino's emotion-driven vocals fueled by Ron Elliott's passionate songwriting, the 1965 release 'Volume 2' features the Beau Brummels at their folk-rock finest, with the chart hits 'Don't Talk To Strangers,' & 'You Tell Me Why'
The rare mono release offers different song mixes from the stereo issue, and, as well, the beefy bold (mono) production makes it an outstanding listen....
The 12 original songs feature several fine Ron Elliott harmony folk-rockers that stand up well to the Byrds' material from the same era. This is one of the two best albums released by the Beau Brummels. There is not a single weak cut on this album (which was rare in 1965). Comparisons are often made to the Byrds, but guitarist Ron Elliott wrote all (except one) of the songs on Beau Brummels Volume 2. The Byrds were not writing all original material in 1965. Aside from Ron Elliott, vocalist Sal Valentino had a great voice that brought out the mood of the Brummels' music. Highlights include "Tell Me Why", "I Want You", "Sad Little Girl" (my favorite on the album), "Don't Talk To Strangers", and "When It Comes To Your Love". The Beau Brummels were one of the most overlooked bands of the 1960's. If you like folk-rock, it's not going to get much better than it is here.
