Description

We go to estate sales regularly and come across a wide array of unique and rare items.  We add to our growing online inventory daily.  We pick up new items from all over the world and all over the US.  We also have a growing customer wish list.  If you'd like to, feel free to add us to your saved seller's list and let us know what you collect and/or need.  We’d be honored to add you to our customer wish list.

We ask what we consider to be a fair price for anything we sell and understand that our idea of a fair price may be someone else's 'that's too much' price.  If that's the case, feel free to make us an offer and we will consider it.  We also have sales regularly, so check back often.

There is always a Sale by TheBay!

Now onto the item for sale.

For sale is an ultrasonically cleaned, first pressing of The Rolling Stones released by Decca in the U.K. in 1964.

PLEASE NOTE: We also have a 1st UK pressing of The Rolling Stones No. 2 album for sale if it hasn't already sold.  If you're a collector, we're always happy to combine shipping and always ship everything we sell fully insured at no extra cost to the buyer.

As you probably know already, there are several different versions of the first pressing of this album with the very first issue having a 2:52 version of Tell Me and a matrix number on side two of either XARL-6272-1A or XARL-6272-2A.

This is the first pressing issue with the 4:06 version of Tell Me and has a matrix number of XARL-6272-3A on side two and XARL-6271-2A on side one.

This issue also the necessary KT tax code on both labels and the matrices to indicate it is a first pressing.

As you probably also know, there are five label variations and four cover variations of the first pressing which make 21 different releases of the first issue, when including the very first issue described above.

This version has the B1 cover with I Need You Baby as track A4 and top and bottom flipbacks folded over the back cover.

The labels are the X version with only Made in England at the top of the labels and N.C.B. and B.I.E.M. on the left side of the labels.

As mentioned above, we ultrasonically cleaned this album so it is very clean with jet black vinyl.  Ultrasonically cleaning an album removes all of the lint, debris and whatever else down in the grooves, but it obviously doesn't remove any scratches.  There are a dozen or so scratches on each side, but almost all of them are very light and really light.  However, side one has a light scuff at about the 1 o'clock position and side two has a smaller light scuff at about the 2 o'clock position.  We'd estimate this album to be in nice VG condition.

As you can see, the labels look great and are in excellent condition with some really light spindle marks.

The album sleeve is in nice condition with no seam splits.  As you can see, the corners of the sleeve have been bent and creased a bit outside of the area of the album over the decades from being removed and put back in the cover.  There are also three small tears in the paper around the center hole on one side and one small tear on the other.

As we trust you know, these older album covers from the U.K. are much thinner than the typical U.S. album covers and the fronts are laminated.  As you can see, some of the laminate has separated from the underlying cover which is very typical on these older covers.  There are no seam splits, but there is a small tear at the bottom right corner on the front, as shown in the pictures above.  All in all, the cover is still quite solid, but has the typical wear and issues common with these older European album covers.

Because of the price and value of this album, it will be shipped in an album box via FULLY insured ground advantage with the USPS.  We wrap all our albums in two layers of bubble wrap and then put a piece of cardboard on either side for extra protection during shipping.

Thanks for looking and God bless!
